SANIA SALEH
I started in graphic design, drawn to how image, type and composition can construct meaning. I earned a Higher Technical diploma in graphic design at the University of Deusto in 2019, which led me to begin working as a freelance designer, developing visual identities, editorial projects and communication materials for independent clients.
Over time, my practice expanded beyond design as a service and into a more exploratory approach to image-making and visual thinking, partly out of curiosity, partly out of not being fully satisfied with staying in one lane.
In 2022, I joined a six-month artistic residency at the Berlin Art Institute (BAI). Working alongside international artists shifted my relationship to design: it became less about solving and more about observing, researching and building ideas through visual form.
I continued my studies in Communication Design at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences in Berlin. Living between Madrid, Berlin and Barcelona has shaped how I understand visual language — not as something fixed, but something that changes with context, people and environment, and sometimes just mood.
Alongside my design work, I keep developing photography, illustration and personal projects. Image-making is a way for me to think visually, often before it becomes language. In 2024, I received First Prize in Photography from UAB Barcelona.
My practice sits between structure and intuition, experimentation and precision. I’m interested in how ideas slowly turn into systems — how typography, composition, colour and rhythm can hold clarity without losing something more fragile in the process.
Today, I work across design, branding and art direction, focusing on identity and visual systems shaped by research, contemporary culture and a constant attention to how images land in real contexts, not just how they’re supposed to work.
